Eating our way around Palma De Mallorca

We came to Spain for two reasons; sunshine and tapas.

About a month or so ago, Tomek and I took a trip to Spain. We spent a few days in Mallorca, and not nearly long enough in Barcelona. My favourite thing about travelling with Tomek is trying new restaurants - he has totally turned me into a foodie. Spain was no exception, I genuinely think that I had some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life on this trip. If you follow me on instagram (@thejuliabaird) you will have seen all of the aaaamazing food that we had!

Since Tomek and I have travelled together for a while now, we also created our own little rating system for restaurants.

Here is our criteria:

  • Value for money /10

  • Ambience (atmosphere) /10

  • Service /10

  • Food quality /10

Total /40

So without further ado, here is everything we ate!

Where we ate in Mallorca

EL Camino

  • Value for money 8/10

  • Ambience (atmosphere) 9/10

  • Service 10/10

  • Food quality 8/10

  • Total score: 8.75/10

Honestly, I think this was my favourite restaurant out of our entire trip. This was the first place we went for tapas and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is narrow with a long bar stretching from nearly one end to the next. Most seating is at the bar and your waiter is behind the bar serving you and a few other guests. I loved this aspect because our waitress was very informative and it was always easy to get her attention - and it wasn’t too close for comfort! I would highly reccomend

What we ate:

  • Tomato bread

  • Octopus tempura

  • Red mullet paella

  • Beef cheeks and mashed potatoes

Note: If you’re thinking of going here, I would go early. We got there 10 minutes after it opened and it was already packed!

Avocado Mallorca

  • Value for money 8/10

  • Ambience (atmosphere) 8/10

  • Service 9/10

  • Food quality 8/10

  • Total score: 8.25/10

This restaurant is a little further a way from the main area, but it’s closer to the beach (Cala Major)! We went here twice for breakfast because it was that good! The food is decently simple, but it’s SO good. You feel so healthy and energized after eating here. It’s ran by a husband and wife team and they are super lovely. If you’re heading to Cala Major I would definitely stop by here!

What we ate:

  • Avocado breakfast with a poached egg

  • Crepe

  • Smoothie

Sadrassana

  • Value for money 7.5/10

  • Ambience (atmosphere) 8/10

  • Service 8.5/10

  • Food quality 8/10

  • Total score: 8/10

This restaurant is definitely more upscale than the others, but it was still really good. The crowd was a little older than what we were expecting, but maybe that’s because we had dinner around 8pm… which is really early in Spain. My favourite thing at this restaurant was the black squid ink croquettes!

What we ate:

  • Croquette

  • Beef things

  • …. honestly I can’t remember… the staff will help you though!

Cappuccino San Miguel

  • Value for money 7.5/10

  • Ambience (atmosphere) 8/10

  • Service 7/10

  • Food quality 7/10

  • Total score: 7.37/10

I think that this might be a chain restaurant, but I’m not certain. In all honesty we just stopped in here to grab a drink and a snack (french fries lol). I can’t give a full recommendation on the food since we didn’t really have any, but it has a really nice private courtyard that I loved!

La Bodeguilla

  • Value for money 7/10

This was a little toooo fishy for me

This was a little toooo fishy for me

  • Ambience (atmosphere) 7/10

  • Service 6/10

  • Food quality 6/10

  • Total score: 7.37/

Honestly, I didn’t love this place. It was okay, it just wasn’t anything to write home about. I know it sounds silly, but there was also a bunch of fruit flies that I think ruined our experience. We would talk in between swatting the flies away. So yea, not bad, but not great.

There are so many amazing restaurants in Mallorca and I know we didn’t even scratch the surface!! I think we need to go back!
